Glendon Principal Donald Ipperciel has been awarded one of France’s highest honours, the Order of Academic Palms. The honour was bestowed on Ipperciel in recognition of his tremendous and wide-reaching accomplishments as a scholar and for his efforts to foster bilingual education in Ontario. Read more.
Marion Boyd, a social justice advocate and political pioneer, was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree during convocation ceremonies at Glendon College. Boyd received the honour on Saturday, June 24. In her convocation address to Glendon graduands, Boyd recalled how her experience at Glendon and her work after graduation as an assistant to York University’s president shaped her career and values. For decades, Glendon has carried forward its mission admirably, and has been the place where many of you made lifelong friends and built lasting relationships. On Saturday, October 1, 2016, we celebrated Glendon’s 50th anniversary, and reflected on those cherished memories of our alma mater. York University Chancellor Gregory Sorbara has been re-appointed to the University’s top ceremonial role for an additional three-year term, effective June 14, 2017. York’s Board of Governors first appointed Sorbara as Chancellor in 2014 for a three year term, and recently confirmed the re-appointment. Read more.
