2016 Canadian Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Conference

“ Protection in Times of Conflict:
Health, displacement and humanitarian principles”

The Canadian Red Cross will be hosting the 5th Annual International Humanitarian Law conference at York University, Glendon College, on November 17, 2016.

Join us as we explore the successes and challenges related to the protection of civilians under International Humanitarian Law (IHL). Throughout the conference, the key note speech and simultaneous panel discussions will address the difficulties associated with the protection of migrants and displaced persons under IHL as well as with the safeguarding of health care in times of conflict. To conclude the day, we will host a plenary session in which we will discuss the importance, relevance and key challenges that humanitarian principles and the concept of Neutral Impartial Independent Humanitarian Action (NIIHA) face in field operations.

The conference will bring together experts from the field of IHL as well as academics, practitioners and representatives from the Office of the Judge Advocate General and Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
