Requirements
All students enrolled in Canadian Studies degree programmes must take the following core courses:

Students in all of the programmes, except those in the Combined Honours Degree Programme who choose Canadian Studies as a minor component, must obtain 6 credits in each of the three areas listed below:

48 credits chosen from the list of courses recognized by the programme, including GL/CDNS 1920 6.0, GL/CDNS 2930 3.0, GL/CDNS 3621 3.0 and GL/CDNS 4622 6.0. 24 of the required credits must be at the 3000 or 4000 level. |

36 credits chosen from the list of courses recognized by the programme, including GL/CDNS 1920 6.0, GL/CDNS 2930 3.0, GL/CDNS 3621 3.0 and GL/CDNS 4622 6.0. 18 of the required credits must be at the 3000 or 4000 level. |
| Honours Double Major BA |
Students may choose Canadian Studies as part of an Honours Double Major Programme. They must take at least 36 credits from the list of courses recognized by the programme, including GL/CDNS 1920 6.0, GL/CDNS 2930 3.0, GL/CDNS 3621 3.0 and GL/CDNS 4622 6.0. 18 of the required credits must be at the 3000 or 4000 level.
Students must consult the York University Calendar for the degree requirements of the other discipline in which they wish to specialize. |
| Honours Major/Minor BA |
Canadian Studies may be combined with any other discipline taught at Glendon. Students may choose either Canadian Studies or the other discipline as their major field of study. They are required to take 60 credits or more in the Canadian Studies Programme and the other department or programme concerned. 36 credits are required in the major field and 24 or more, as required, in the minor field.
Canadian Studies as the Major Component: Students must take at least 36 credits from the list of courses recognized by the programme, including GL/CDNS 1920 6.0, GL/CDNS 2930 3.0, GL/CDNS 3621 3.0 and GL/CDNS 4622 6.0. 18 of the required credits must be at the 3000 or 4000 level..
Canadian Studies as the Minor Component:
Students must take at least 24 credits from the list of courses recognized by the programme, including GL/CDNS 1920 6.0, GL/CDNS 2930 3.0, and GL/CDNS 3621 3.0.
N.B. Students who take Canadian Studies as a Minor component are exempted from the requirement to take 6 credits in each of the three designated areas. |
| Bachelor of Arts |
30 credits from the list of courses recognized by the programme, including GL/CDNS 1920 6.0, GL/CDNS 2930 3.0, GL/CDNS 3621 3.0. 12 of these credits must be at the 3000 or 4000 level. |
| iBA Programs |
The iBA provides a framework for combining Canadian Studies undergraduate programs with the study of global issues and languages as well as an international exchange experience.

In addition to the courses required for their major, students must also complete the following requirements:
- at least 12 credits of internationally-oriented courses;
- at least one full term abroad as a full-time student at an institution with which Glendon and/or York has a formal exchange agreement;
- for the iBA bilingual, students must complete at least 18 credits in each official language (French and English) at Glendon from the following two categories:
- courses at the second-year level and above in French as a second language (FRLS) and/or in English as a second language (ENSL);
- courses in any discipline which are designated as satisfying the bilingual requirement.
- for the iBA trilingual, in addition to the above 18 credits in English and French, students must complete 18 credits in Hispanic studies including GL/SP 2610 6.00 or another advanced-level course (six credits) in Hispanic studies or in a modern language offered by York University, including an advanced-level course in the chosen language.
Courses taken to fulfill the major requirements may also be used to fulfill the above iBA requirements.
