SPECIAL SHOWING OF THE FILM "SUEÑO" (DREAM)
In the context of the up-coming SÍ-SÍ-CINE Toronto Latin Film Festival 2009, "MÁS ALLÁ DE LAS
FRONTERAS: MANIFESTACIONES DE CREATIVIDAD HISPANO-CANADIENSE" there will be a special showing for high school
students of the Mexican film "SUEÑO" (Dream) . This film tells the story of a Mexican teen-ager, who leaves Mexico to find a better
life for himself in Los Angeles, California. His talent for music and his aspirations "to make it big" in the musical world lead him to
develop personal relationships and to compete in an important musical contest.
The SCREENING will take place on OCTOBER 1st, at the BLOOR CINEMA, located at 506 Bloor St. West (Bloor and Bathurst). The cost
per student is $8 and chaperones are free of charge. There will be two showings: 10:00 am and 1:00 pm- please let us know which
showing is more convenient for your class.
As usual, we will provide you with a writen synopsis and excercizes designed to further enrich your students' learning experience in the
context of the film.

A concert in the Hispanic-Canadian Mode
Within the context of the Cultural Celebration of the Spanish Language (CCIE), and The Festival of Images and Words 2009 Beyond Frontiers: Manifestations of Hispano-Canadian Creativity, the Principal’s Office of Glendon College and ANTARES Publishing House of Spanish Culture have the pleasure of inviting you to Musical Presence: a concert featuring Marcelo Puente and Andrea Muñoz García.
Marcelo Puente is a Chilean singer/songwriter whose presence on the Latino-Canadian musical scene dates back to the 70s, when he and other Chilean and Greek artists performed songs of social awareness and protest against the dictatorships of their respective countries in the Trojan Horse café.
Andrea Muñoz García has made her debut in Toronto this last summer, as the winner of the Latin Star Performance 2009 competition. Her talent and versatility span across the music of Spain -her native country- other European countries and the Americas.
