Michiel
Horn, History program, Fellow of the Royal Society
of Canada and National President of the Canadian Association
for the Advancement of Netherlandic Studies (CAANS). Professor
Horn is a specialist in topics such as the history of academic
freedom in Canada, the Great Depression, and the Second
World War. He has published numerous books and articles, including
Academic Freedom in Canada: A History (1999), Becoming
Canadian: Memoirs of an Invisible Immigrant (1997),
and The
Depression in Canada: Responses to Economics Crisis (1988).
He is the official historian of York University, currently
completing a book on the university’s history.
