Program Overview
Available in both concurrent and consecutive program options, Glendon’s Bachelor of Education (French) program is designed specifically to prepare future immersion, extended, and core French teachers at the following levels:
- Primary/Junior (kindergarten to grade 6)
- Junior/Intermediate (grade 4 to grade 10)
- Intermediate/Senior (grade 7 to grade 12) levels.
This program addresses a province-wide shortage of well-qualified French teachers. Our bilingual campus and excellence in language education provide the ideal setting for this program, which is further distinguished by our small class size and extensive hands-on teaching experience. Many students report great experiences in the program and find jobs in their field on graduation.
In order to help you develop your French skills to the best of your ability, Glendon’s BEd program is bilingual, with 2/3 of your courses taught in English and 1/3 in French.

When would I start my BEd courses?
If you are a direct-entry applicant, you will be taking a practicum seminar course at the Keele campus during your first year in order to prepare you for success in the BEd program.
Meanwhile, your first year at Glendon is a time to become familiar with university life and to begin your BA courses. Beginning in your second year, you will be taking BEd courses and BA courses simultaneously.
