Canadian studies is the in-depth study of the Canadian
experience. Understand the country in its various dimensions
— its history, its political and legal systems, its languages and
cultures, its geographical location, its regions, and its other
unique features. You’ll consider how all of this shapes
Canada’s position in the global arena.
Why Canadian studies at Glendon?
Get a degree with tremendous breadth and flexibility,
thanks to courses drawn from several academic areas —
history, political science, sociology, economics, women’s
studies, and more.
We offer a unique opportunity to study Canadian issues in the
Canadian reality of both official languages: English and French.
Study with leading authorities on Canadian issues. The head
of our program, Colin Coates, is the recipient of the prestigious Canada Research Chair in Canadian Studies for his work on
Canada’s national culture, and has just published a book on
the role of royalty in Canada. Alan Borovoy, the head of the
Canadian Civil Liberties Association, teaches courses on human
rights in Canada, and Geoffrey Ewen is a specialist in labour
issues in Quebec.
