This series is intended to offer practical and professionally-oriented training to two groups of people: 1) experienced interpreters currently working in the conference market; and 2) recent graduates of conference interpreter training programs.
Through each of its one-week courses, the series will allow members of each group either to perfect a language pair they are already interpreting with, or to add to their repertoire a new language pair that they are working to bring up to a professional level.
Students will benefit each morning from three hours classroom training, during which they will work on speeches taken from local, national, and international settings. They will be encouraged to implement a variety of strategies to deal with difficulties specific to each.
In the afternoons and evenings, guest talks, cultural events, and excursions into the community will be offered in French, Spanish, and Portuguese for a full immersion experience. (A similar calendar of activities can be organized in English, if there is sufficient demand.)
