David Lawrence s’intéresse à la culture martiale et la violence organisée dans l’histoire de l’Europe moderne. Il enseigne l’histoire britannique, la guerre et la société de l’Europe du début des temps modernes, et il donne un cours sur la Première Guerre mondiale. Il a publié The Complete Soldier : Military Books and Military Culture in Early Stuart England 1603-1645 aux Éditions Brill en 2009.
