Artist's Statement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Glendon Gallery presents “Transhumance”

March 20th to April 20th, 2007

Opening Reception: saturday March 24, 2-5 pm

Toronto, March 1st 2007York University’s Glendon Gallery is please to present visual artist Nadine Bariteau’s thesis exhibition entitled Transhumance, running from March 20 to April 20, 2007. The general public is invited to the Opening reception on Saturday, March 24, from 2 to 5 pm, as well as to the artist’s talk on Tuesday, March 20 at noon, which coincide with International Francophone Day.

Nadine Bariteau’s show combines silkscreen, video and installation-based mediums. The theme of Bariteau's work is centered on the flow of human movement throughout an underground city, which parallels the natural flow of water and evokes feelings of transitory states. Transhumance explores the punctuation of time and expresses the nomadic process that occurs within the course of everyday life.
