FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Glendon Gallery presents its “Annual Student Exhibition ”
March 6th to March 16th, 2007
Opening Reception: Tuesday March 6, 5-8 pm
Toronto, February 27, 2007 – Continuing its tradition, this March the Glendon Gallery is pleased to announce its ANNUAL STUDENT EXHIBITION, taking place from March 6th to 16th. The public is cordially invited to the Opening reception on Tuesday, March 6th at 5:00 pm.
By carefully considering the portfolio submissions of their peers, each year, a committee composed of Glendon College students selects the works to be displayed in this exhibition, and according to Marc Audette, a Glendon College professor and visual artist ”each year [the committee] faces the same challenge, that is to find a way to reconcile the themes evoked through the works with the important concerns of our day. It is not surprising then that Glendon students do not function in a vacuum. They speak out on and take a stance on the many issues that concern them. As a result, every spring the Glendon Gallery is able to present works which form an overview of the reflections of these students and their inspirations.”
Participants
A dozen students will be participating in the 2007 edition, including: Bethany Deshpande, Valérie Auger-Voyer, Melissa Fockler, Gregory Junop, Erin McQuaig, Siobhan Ozege, Sasha Stark, Ghada Zaki, Martine Guay, Syndie Ouellet, Nathalie Cheron, Graham Teeple, Christine Maysdosian.
Come and discover the result of their artistic expressions via different media and materials including photography, painting, pottery, sculpture and installations. Among the different situations and realities explored are beauty, everyday emotions, human nature and behaviour, the Canadian identity, midnight in a bar, etc. Please, do not hesitate to take a walk over to the Gallery to come and see what inspires our students. We hope to see you soon!
