Being a part of the Glendon Musical Ensemble was definitely the highlight of my university experience. I was an alto in the choir and I looked forward to every Thursday night when we met all met for rehearsal. Each week all the members came together to play our instruments, whether it be a saxophone, a guitar or just our own voices, we all shared a passion for music while building friendships along the way. The GME gives students a chance to explore all genres of music while working together to create not just a musical ensemble, but more of a musical “family” where everyone has an opportunity to contribute their ideas, thoughts and individual experiences with music. The BEST part of GME is that everyone is welcome to join just as long as you have an interest in music and want to be a part of a community at Glendon where you will have the time of your life.

Being part of the Glendon Musical Ensemble was a very positive experience for me. The auditions and first rehearsals were intimidating since I had limited musical experience but I very quickly felt like part of the group. The executive team did a great job of directing musicians with different levels of experience and diverse musical backgrounds. As for the members, they were a talented group who worked hard and played even harder. The GME for me was a musical journey where I improved my playing, had fun and made great friends along the way.

Parvenir à un équilibre entre travaux scolaires et activités sociales est souvent difficile au niveau universitaire. Cependant, l'Ensemble Musical de Glendon m'a aidé à l'atteindre. Une fois par semaine on se retrouve dans un milieu accueillant, gratifiant, où l'on rencontre des gens intéressants, unis par leur passion pour la musique. Je recommande fortement l'EMG à tous ceux qui aiment les défis, apprendre, et collaborer avec les autres afin de créer de la musique belle et unique. Je dois dire que le moment préféré de ma participation dans l'EMG se produit à peu près une semaine avant chaque concert, lorsque les musiciens se joignent aux membres de la chorale et que l'on entend pour la première fois les morceaux tels qu'ils devaient être joués; c'est vraiment un moment magique où l'on se rend compte qu'ensemble on peut vraiment faire quelque chose de magnifique!

The Glendon Musical Ensemble is a creative outlet for many talented individuals. It provides a sense of belonging and purpose within the Glendon community. Being a part of the GME means a lot to me personally because it is my source of comfort during trying times; it is the sun to my flower; it is the wind beneath my wings, but most of all, it is FUN :)

Being a part of the Glendon Musical Ensemble was definitely my favourite memory of my university experience. Coming from an arts program in high school, I was used to taking part in various choirs and orchestras, so when I came to Glendon, I wanted to continue with all of these interests without compromising my study time (as rehearsals can be really time consuming). The GME was perfect because it is really an "all-in-one" musical group; I could participate in both choir and instrumentals, and sing/play music of different genres by just being in one group. I loved being a part of all the performances, and meeting a group of such talented and awesome people!
