Re-auditions

(NEW MEMBERS please click here for Auditions)

We are very glad that you would like to join us again in the 2011/2012 season!

Re-auditions will be held September 21-23.

In order to book your re-audition, please e-mail gme@glendon.yorku.ca with the following information:

•  Name and contact information

•  Instrument(s) and/or vocal singing part that you will be auditioning with

Re-audition Guidelines

Singers

•  Please prepare a short piece that you feel will present your talents well. If you require accompaniment, please provide your own for the audition. You may bring an audio CD. (Vocalists, if your accompaniment is on CD, it should not contain the vocal line.)

•  You will be asked to sing O Canada. When you email us to schedule an audition time, we will email you back with a version of O Canada, and we ask you to learn your part (if you already know that you are an alto, tenor etc. please learn that respective line. Otherwise, just learn the melody). At your audition, you will sing this while an existing member of the GME sings another part of the song. This will test how well you can hold your own part, and how well you can blend.

Instrumentalists

• Please prepare a short piece that you feel will present your talents well. If you require accompaniment, please provide your own for the audition. You may bring an audio CD.

• You will be asked to play O Canada. It is up to you to find and learn a version of this song. (You do not have to provide a score, in case you play it by memory or by ear.)

• We will ask you to sight-read some music with the assistance/accompaniment of current musical ensemble members, as well us do some rhythm exercises.

The purpose of the re-auditions is simply to get a chance to hear each of you one-on-one again. We like to have an idea of each person's voice or playing style as we build the Ensemble. Also, we are interested to see how you have grown and changed over the year(s).

If you are interested in auditioning for something new (ie. a different instrument or a part in the choir if you were previously only an instrumentalist) we will be pleased to hear you. You will have to follow the new audition guidelines for your new part, but you can book both your re-audition and your new audition for the same time.

We look forward to seeing you again soon,

The GME Team!
