Diane Morissette, Senior Director of Strategic Issues Management for Service Canada/HRSDC, joined Glendon and the School of Public and International Affairs as our first Public Servant in Residence, in November 2008. The Public Servant in Residence program of the Canadian Federal Government places high-performing public servants in Canadian universities to strengthen the relations with the federal Public Service; enhance public management and public policy research and education; gain access to senior practitioners who have a wealth of practical experience and knowledge; and help build a strong and vibrant federal public service. She intends to explore, as well, the extensive cultural life in Toronto. At Glendon, Ms. Morissette works closely with faculty members of the School and our graduate students in order to achieve the above goals. During her tenure at Glendon (2008-2010), she will be in touch with various faculty members to explore possible areas of collaboration and support; in addition, a series of presentations will be held for our Glendon undergraduate and graduate students regarding public service careers. Ms. Morissette will also be developing her network of federal public servants in the Toronto region and pursue other projects of the Glendon School of Public and International Affairs. Diane Morissette’s professional experience is mostly in strategic policies, including intergovernmental relations; social, labour market and service policies. She was also involved in strategic planning at departmental level. She has held senior advisory roles and executive positions in the Department of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada/Service Canada, the Privy Council Office, the Canadian Advisory Council on the Status of Women, and in the Ministry of Transportation (Québec). Ms. Morissette holds a M.Sc. and B.Sc. in anthropology from l’Université de Montréal.
