University Learning Skills Course
The bilingual University Learning Skills course is a joint program offered by the Counselling and Career Centre and the Office of the Associate Principal, Student Affairs. In this course you work with instructors to construct a plan for academic success. The focus is on learning the academic skills necessary to excel at university.
The main objectives of this course are to help you:
- Discover your academic strengths and weaknesses
- Discover and enhance your motivation for learning
- Develop effective study skills for academic success
- Increase your self-confidence
Course outlines:
- Motivation and Commitment: Keys to Success
- Self assessment of current study skills and learning styles
- Time management and anti-procrastination
- Reading textbooks effectively
- Critical thinking and critical reading
- Effective note-taking
- How to write a successful paper
- Public Speaking/ Class presentations
- Preparing for exams
- Stress management
When:
- Monday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm - September 19 to November 21, 2011
- Room 151 - York Hall
Fees:
- Non-refundable fee of $300
