Fourth Year Honours Program


(iBA) Bilingual And Trilingual Programs

Specialization

The program degree requirements chart on page 10, provide a list of the mandatory courses associated with the various Psychology programs that are available. In addition to the mandatory courses, students may choose electives from a variety of areas in psychology or they may choose to specialize. Suggested specializations include (but are not limited to) the following:

Cognitive Neuropsychology (visit the program website)

Psychological principles of growth and development

Prerequisites

Students must pass the course GL PSYC 2510 6.0 Introduction to Psychology with a minimum grade of C (4.0) in order to pursue further studies in psychology. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that this prerequisite is in place before registering in upper year courses. It is recommended that the requirements for MODR 17xx 6.0 be fulfilled in the first or   2nd year.  Students planning to major in Psychology who have not taken OAC finite math (or equivalent) are encouraged to take GL/MATH 1670 6.0 in their first year.

It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that program requirements and course prerequisite(s) are met as outlined in the calendar. If a student does not have the prerequisite(s), no special consideration will be given should the student find the material too difficult.

Important Information
  • Students who are planning to apply to a graduate program in Psychology are advised to  obtain a  Specialized Honours degree.
  • Glendon students wishing to fulfill the requirement GL PSYC 2530 3.0 Introduction to Statistics by taking the equivalent in the Faculty of Heath must take both HH PSYC 2021 3.0 Statistical Methods I and HH PSYC 2022 3.0 Statistical Methods II or HH PSYC 2020 6.0 Statistical Methods I and II.

Fourth Year Honours Program

Any third year student who intends to continue to the 4th year Honours Program must make an application to the department and be accepted. Prior to registration, to establish their fourth year honours program, students must have their proposed fourth year course selection approved by the Chair of the department. See minicalendar for application form.

Prerequisites: Psyc 2510 6.0 with a final grade of C, Psyc 2520 3.0, Psyc 2530 3.0 and Psyc 3525 3.0; for Honours Double Major, Honours, and Honours Major/Minor, a minimum cumulative overall and major gradepoint average of 5 (C+), plus permission of the department; for Specialized Honours, a cumulative overall and major gradepoint average of 6 (B) or better, plus permission of the department.
