Scholarships are “free money” given out by York, the Friends of Glendon, and other companies and organizations on the basis of outstanding academic achievement.
Scholarships can either be automatic or application based.
Automatic scholarships are based on grades and do not require an application on your part. These include the York University Renewable Entrance Scholarship and the York University Continuing Student Scholarship.
York University Renewable Entrance Scholarships
York University Renewable Entrance Scholarships are renewed in August for the upcoming Fall/Winter session to undergraduate students who have achieved an 8.0 average in the previous Summer and Fall/Winter sessions and completed at least 24 credits. The amount of the scholarship is the same as when the student began studies at York. If you lose the scholarship one year (say you have a 7.9), it cannot be regained.
York University Continuing Student Scholarships
York University Continuing Student Scholarships are awarded in August for the upcoming Fall/Winter session to undergraduate students who have achieved an 8.0 average in the previous Summer and Fall/Winter sessions. Students become eligible for this scholarship following the completion of their first 24 York credits. The amount of the scholarship varies according to number of credits completed and GPA. Students who receive a renewable entrance scholarship are not eligible to receive this scholarship.
