YES is a Work/Study program designed to support the outstanding contributions, services and campus engagement activities organized and performed by our student leaders on campus. YES positions focus on enhancing a student employee’s engagement and success in areas such as peer mentoring, ambassadorship and advising. These positions provide undergraduate students with opportunities to establish new programs or provide services to fellow students at York and contain less than 20 per cent clerical work. Students who are awarded a YES position cannot hold another YES, CLAY, RAY or Work/Study position concurrently.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for the YES program if you meet all of the following criteria:

  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person.
  • Undergraduate student enrolled in a degree program.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Demonstrate satisfactory academic progress (i.e. you are not on academic warning/probation).
  • Have not defaulted on previous student loans or other government bursary programs.
  • Fall/Winter (September to April): full-time in both the Fall and Winter terms – i.e. at least 60 per cent of a full course load (nine credits) in each term or at least 40 per cent (six credits) in each term for students with a permanent disability.
  • Summer (May to August): student must be registered full-time in at least 60 per cent of a full course load (40 per cent of a full course load for students with a permanent disability) or registered as a full-time student in the winter term and returning to full-time studies in September.

Salary Rate

Hourly rates can vary with the nature of the job. The rate of pay will be indicated on the job posting and/or you will be advised by the employer during the interview.
