Application Steps Dates/Deadlines
Step 1: Check Your Eligibility You can begin checking your eligibility at any time.
Step 2: Apply Online and Submit Documents Deadlines – Fall 2023 term only applications

July 25 – Recommended date to submit your Fall-only application and all required documents to receive your funds at the beginning of the fall term

60 days before the end of the study period – Ministry deadline to apply for Fall-only OSAP is 60 days before the end of the study period. Please check the OSAP web page for the application deadline.

40 days before the end of the study period – Ministry deadline to submit all supporting documentation and requests for review for Fall-only OSAP is 40 days before the end of the study period. Please check the OSAP web page for the supporting documents deadline.

 

Deadlines – Fall/Winter 2023-2024 application

Deadlines – Winter 2024 term only applications

November 21 – Recommended last date to submit your Winter-only OSAP application and all required supporting documents to receive your funds at the beginning of the Winter term.

60 days before end of the study period – Ministry deadline to apply for Winter-only OSAP is 60 days before the end of study period. Please check the OSAP web page for the application deadline.

40 days before end of the study period – Ministry deadline to submit all supporting documentation and requests for review for Winter-only OSAP is 40 days before the end of study period. Please check the OSAP web page for the supporting documents deadline.

Step 3: Submit your MSFAA  OSAP applicants can complete and submit their MSFAA online. For more information and for instructions on how to submit your MSFAA, please visit our York OSAP page.
Step 4: Check Your Status

August 31 – York begins to confirm your registration status.

December 21 – York begins to confirm registration status for the OSAP second instalment.

Step 5: Receive Your Funds September 7 – Once your registration is confirmed the National Student Loans Service Centre begins to electronically release OSAP first instalments.

January 9 – Once your registration is confirmed the National Student Loans Service Centre begins to electronically release OSAP second instalments.

Step 6: Report Changes Report all changes to your OSAP application promptly. This includes changes to income and your course load.
Step 7: Repay OR Maintain Interest-Free Status

Repayment will start six months after completing your full-time studies.

If you are returning to full-time studies and will not be applying for OSAP, submit a Continuation of Interest-free status through your OSAP web account to ensure your previous load does not enter repayment. Check the application deadline on the OSAP web page.
