Duration

The Certificate takes two years of part-time studies to complete. You will take a total of six half courses. Four of the courses are in writing, and each of these courses is a pre-requisite for the writing course that follows. The other two half courses are in computer science or information technology.

The requirement for the computer science or information technology courses can be satisfied by any of the computer science courses offered by York University or by GL/ITEC/2915 3.0 and GL/ITEC/2925 3.0, the introductory courses in information technology, or the equivalent. These courses must be taken before the second year of the programme. Applicants with previous academic credit in computer studies may be eligible for advanced standing for these courses.

Programme Requirements

The programme requires a total of six (6) half course equivalents:

  • Three half courses in professional writing
  • One half course in documentation
  • Any full year computer science course or ITEC 2915 3.0 and ITEC 2925 3.0.
