Application Process
The School of Translation accepts only a limited number
of students. Enrolment is generally limited to 50 students
(Anglophones and Francophones) in each of the three levels
of the programme. The application process is slightly different for different applicants, so please carefully review the section that pertains to you.

Application timeline at a glance:
March 2, 2012 : Deadline to submit the supplementary application package to The School of Translation. (Extended from February 17th)
Early March 2012: Applicants with the required cut-off and favorable review of the supplementary application package will be invited to write the online entrance exam.
Mid-March 2012 (date to be confirmed): Deadline to complete the online entrance exam.
Early April 2012: Offers of admission into the Translation program will be released. |
Admission to the program requires the submission of a supplementary application package and an online entrance exam:
- Eligible applicants meeting Glendon's general admission requirements are conditionally admitted into the French Studies program.
- Selected applicants are invited by the School of Translation to submit a supplementary application package, including the following information:
- Provide a Personal Statement roughly 500 words in length. In English, explain the reasons why you are interested in the translation professions (250 words). In French, describe any past experiences that would allow you to become a good translator (250 words).
- Submit two letters of recommendation; one from your English teacher, and one from your French teacher.
- Applicants are to submit their Supplementary Application by February 17, 2012 directly to the School of Translation at the address below, along with a $20.00 non-refundable processing fee. Please make cheques payable to York University, The School of Translation.

| Internal applicants |
Prerequisites:
- All applicants to the School of Translation must have completed, by September, a minimum of one year of university (24 credits) or the equivalent.
- Must be eligible to proceed in an Honours B.A. program
- Interested applicants must successfully complete the School's online entrance examination.

External applicants who wish to apply to the School of Translation and who have already completed one year of university study need to:
- Contact The School of Translation directly at 416-487-6742 or translation@glendon.yorku.ca to arrange to write their online entrance examination.
- Once a passing grade is received, apply for admission to Glendon as a college/university transfer student.
Students who wish to study Translation but do not have the prerequisite year may complete their one year of studies at Glendon, provided that they fulfill Glendon’s admission requirements. |
| Second degree option (Accelerated BA Program) |
Applicants who wish to apply to the School of Translation and who have already hold an undergraduate degree need to:
- Contact The School of Translation directly at 416-487-6742 or translation@glendon.yorku.ca to arrange their online entrance examination.
- Once a passing grade is received:
- Apply to Glendon through the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) using code YGR
OR
- Apply to Glendon directly via York University's Office of Admissions.
Students who wish to study Translation but do not have the prerequisite year may complete their one year of studies at Glendon, provided that they fulfill Glendon’s admission requirements. |
