Translation is the process of converting written texts from one language to another. Professionally-trained translators are able to rewrite texts in a different language, fully capturing the intended meaning, style, and tone of the text, while employing correct grammar and terminology. We offer a degree in French to English translation for anglophones and English to French translation for francophones.

Our graduates work for the United Nations, the Government of Canada, law firms, publishing houses, major corporations, for their own translation firms, and more. Translation graduates can also go on to have successful careers as editors, technical writers, language consultants, terminologists, revisers, and teachers, to name a few.

Professor Christine Klein-Lataud has translated works by Margaret Laurence, as well as other major writers and poets.

Translation is available as a bilingual or trilingual international Bachelor of Arts.

At Glendon you can pursue the option to train for two professions at the same time - translation and technical & professional communication.

Our program offers the possibility of work placements in both the private and public sectors.
