Online Exam
All applicants to the Translation program must successfully complete our entrance examination. Below are the details:
WHY AN ENTRANCE EXAM? The exam is designed to help us and help you to determine if you will be successful in our program. Specifically, the test assesses your ability to write in both English and French. In addition to language skills, translators are typically people who like to write, who like to be aware of the world around them, who like communicating with others, and who are detail-oriented. You can consider these in assessing your own fit with our program.
FORMAT: The exam is entirely written and includes a 500-word essay and a 300-word summary in your dominant language (English or French), as well as 3 paragraph answers in your second language (English or French). On average, students require 2.5 – 3 hours to complete the test. The maximum time alotted is 4 hours.
TOOLS: You are free to consult a dictionary while completing the exam.
HOW TO ACCESS THE EXAM: The exam is available online. You can complete it from your own computer, or on a computer at Glendon – as you prefer.
