Glendon to host Research Festival April 7, 8 and 11

The Research Office at Glendon Campus will host its annual Research Festival on April 7, 8 and 11 to celebrate the achievements of Glendon researchers.

The three-day event will include two roundtable discussions, two book launches, an event to recognize new faculty members, a celebration of the Principal’s Research Excellence Awards, and a student research showcase.

“This is an important opportunity to reflect on our achievements as well as the difficulties we have all faced in maintaining our research agendas through the pandemic period,” says Associate Principal, Research and Graduate Studies Colin Coates. “Glendon has a strong history of encouraging each other and recognizing our students’ and our colleagues’ contributions. We know that this year’s Research Festival will maintain that tradition.”

April 7

The first day of the Research Festival will feature roundtable discussions. One will focus on the effects of COVID-19 on the research activities of Glendon colleagues and the other on the challenges and opportunities of doing research and publishing in French in a minority language setting.

To explore these issues, Associate Principal, Research and Graduate Studies Colin Coates has invited a series of researchers from the University to share their experiences and strategies.

Each roundtable will include a time for open discussion.

Research in the Time of COVID-19 – 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Join a dynamic group of researchers who will share their own experiences on how the pandemic has affected their research productivity, their work, family, community circumstances, their health and well-being, as well as their ideas for moving forward. After hearing from guest speakers, participants will be invited to join the discussion.

Research in French: The Importance of Interdisciplinary Collaboration in a Minority Language Setting – 1 to 2:30 p.m.

This roundtable discussion will consider the questions: What can institutional collaborations contribute to research in the minority language setting? How have research landscapes evolved?

This event will be held French.
