Donor Impact Report

Each year, the support of alumni and friends makes a tremendous impact at Glendon. Every gift makes a difference on our small campus and it is my pleasure, on behalf of all Glendon students, faculty and staff, to thank all who have contributed to our 2017-2018 campaign. Merci beaucoup ! In addition to my heartfelt thanks, I hope you will read on to hear more about the difference that donors make at Glendon.

Last fall, a group of dedicated alumni, led by James Daw BA’72, developed the idea and led the support for a new bursary for indigenous students at Glendon. Thanks to 47 donors and a leadership gift from the Friends of Glendon, we have successfully launched the bursary and anticipate awarding it this fall. Thank you to all who joined us to make this new bursary possible. You can read more about this effort and the alumni behind the idea in this story.

Glendon alumni and friends have contributed $513,000 to support students, academic programs and our campus in 2017-2018. In addition to the Glendon Alumni Indigenous Bursary, many donors are supporting a host of other student financial aid projects, the Salon Francophone and other programs that impact our students. Glendon would not be able to support the number of students it does each year without the Friends of Glendon. Merci! The graphic below shows you where your support and all the funds raised for Glendon are making an impact.

Looking ahead to the 2018-2019 academic year, we have begun exploring select classroom renovations in York Hall. Our plan is to create flexible classrooms, where the seating can be reconfigured easily, to offer professors and students a much more engaging environment for teaching and learning. For students, it means a more dynamic learning experience with a variety of space configurations in a classroom for small group work, experiential education, and interactive technology. You will be hearing more about this project in the fall as we start to outfit our first classroom.  We can’t wait to share the before and after photos of this exciting project supported by Glendon donors.

My thanks again, to all supporters of Glendon and our students. If you have any questions about how your gift makes an impact, I encourage you to be in touch with me personally.
