After graduating from high school in Quebec City, Gabrielle Ouellet embarked on a three-year career as an international model with Toronto as her home base. When she decided to pursue post-secondary studies, Glendon felt like the obvious choice.

“Being able to study in both English and French was an incredible opportunity,” she explains. “And how can you not fall in love with such a pretty campus?”

Studying in English and French leads to professional success

In 2019, she graduated with a BA in Communications as well as a Certificate of Bilingual Excellence from Glendon. She also earned a Spanish Certificate from Universidad de Malaga where she spent a summer studying Spanish full-time. After finishing her undergraduate studies, she pursued a master’s degree in Management from the Schulich School of Business. She worked as a Bilingual Research Associate for Investment Comparables at CoStar Group before accepting a position as an Administrative & Outreach Assistant at Glendon. Gabrielle says that her studies at Glendon allowed her to deliver value as a young professional.

“In my role at CoStar, I analyzed all high value commercial real estate transactions in Quebec. I was also entrusted with English to French translation of promotional materials. The bilingual aspect of my degree became an integral part of my recent successes at CoStar.”

Applying communications and marketing training to volunteer work

Outside of work, Gabrielle takes pride in giving back either with her time or her skills. She volunteers by managing a marketing team for Blue Sky Solar Racing, a subsidiary of the University of Toronto’s Engineering Department. She uses her communications and marketing knowledge to help the organization build brand awareness by developing social media strategies and organizing conferences and events. Gabrielle also volunteers her time to causes that she cares deeply about.

“I volunteer my time for A Greener Future, a non-profit organization that promotes environmental preservation through organized litter cleanups, educational programs, and events. The positive impact of environmental clean ups has inspired me to participate in the community and promote a cause dear to my heart.”

She considers running a marathon her proudest achievement to date.

“The months of hard work and dedication all seem to pay off once you cross the finish line. I am currently training for my next marathon and plan to raise money for charitable causes. I am excited to not only push my limits but also help my community.”
