Glendon Extended Learning needs Monitors to work in the Explore Program, the second language government bursary program.

Glendon Extended Learning is looking for bilingual, energetic and motivated monitors to work in highly experiential English and French as a Second Language programmes on the Glendon Campus/York University. Duties will include the preparation and delivery of in-class workshops two afternoons a week, planning and escorting students on afternoon outings, planning and facilitating activities in the evenings and on weekends as assigned by the Head Monitor. Monitors will also be responsible for conscientiously supervising students in residence during the week and on weekends.

All Monitors employed in this programme will live on campus in university residence. The Head Monitor will ensure that Monitors are given some days and weekends off during the programme. Monitors are expected to attend a training period before the start of the session, regular programme meetings and general assemblies, as well as the last evening gala banquet. Monitors will report to a Head Monitor and will work closely with a team of second language instructors and the Coordinator of Glendon Extended Learning.

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently registered in an undergraduate degree
  • Experience in leadership development, summer camps, educational settings, sports or cultural activities
  • Strong first language skill (English or French) and sound knowledge of a second language (French or English)
  • Must be available from May 12 to July 31, 2015

Total Compensation is $4000, along with room and board.
