The Leadership & Career Summit will take place on Friday, February 10, at 1PM in the Centre of Excellence. The Summit offers Glendon students a unique opportunity for new action, inspired thinking, and strategic support for leadership and career development. The day will feature: Breakout Sessions, an Expert Panel, an Employment Fair and a Networking Reception. The best part: it’s free!

This year, as Glendon’s premier professional development conference for students, the event features the theme of “becoming”. “Become-it” means connecting a personal vision and professional purpose to a plan for how and when one can make an impact.

This year, more than two dozen organizations representing all sectors will be at the event to speak with students about job opportunities, career pathways and bilingual employment. These organizations include: Air Canada, Bilingual Source, Belair Direct, Canada Revenue Agency, Explorica, Questrade, Toronto District School Board, Teachers on Call…and many more!

Amanda Sartori, Student Life Coordinator in the Office of Student Affairs emphasizes the knowledge, skills, and personal development as a way to connect students with their future:

The Leadership & Career Summit provides an incredible opportunity for students create a vision for their future, to build their unique story, and to add to their toolkit of knowledge, skills, and strengths. For The Summit, “becoming” has been situated at the intersection of leadership and career development that are indispensable to each other. When combined, students will have the venue to take a self-defined step forward by connecting their personal vision and purpose to where and how they want to make an impact. – Amanda Sartori

This year, the event marks a special collaboration between the Office of Student Affairs, the Career and Skills Development Centre and the Office of Advancement, Alumni and External Relations. This partnership resulted in the significant participation of alumni experts who are industry leaders in their fields who will come to meet with and present to students. The event also provides a unique experiential education opportunity for students in SOSC 3205 Leadership, Influence and Change (taught by Jennifer Sipos-Smith). Students in this course are key collaborators and work on project teams to contribute to all aspects of the event from planning to concept to execution.
This event is also a favourite for Glendon students who attend to catapult their knowledge and skills into the future:

This will be my second year attending the Leadership Summit but my first year helping to organize it. It’s been a really fun and rewarding experience seeing all of the work that goes into the conference from behind the scenes and being a part of that process. I’m looking forward to meeting and hearing from all of the Glendon alumni who will be at the event! says Sonia Patel, a resident Don, 4th year student who is enrolled in SOSC 3205.
