BEd: How your degree will work

Glendon offers two entries into the B.Ed:

  1. DIRECT-ENTRY FROM HIGH SCHOOL

The concurrent BEd is for students entering straight from high school.

Choose your level and select your major: The best preparation for teaching French at all levels is a dedicated involvement with French language studies and immersion in French during your undergraduate studies at Glendon. If you select Junior-Intermediate and Intermediate-Senior certification levels, you must declare French Studies as your major and first teachable.

Maintain your entry in the BEd:

  • Complete a Glendon undergraduate degree with a minimum C+ overall average or a 5.00 grade point average.
  • Achieve a high level of French language competence.
  • Satisfy the Francophone cultural component of the program prior to entering the BEd program: either a one-year study program in a Francophone context or complete 12 credits in courses related to francophone culture. A combination of direct cultural experiences and courses is also accepted.
  • Complete the courses required for your teaching subject(s) (for Junior-Intermediate and Intermediate-Senior candidates only.)

2.  Consecutive BEd French as a Second Language (FSL) Glendon

How it works: Glendon students may apply to the Glendon Bachelor of Education French as a Second Language program in the fall of their last year of their BA degree. Please note that space is limited. French proficiency will be evaluated.
