Differences between the Thesis and the MRP

  • The average number of terms for completion of the degree is six for full-time students, or the equivalent of two years’ continuous study in the program.
  • Part-time students usually take one course per term, for an equivalent of approximately two and a half years’ study in the program.
  • Students whose research involves human participants should follow the research ethics protocol , which involves submitting the proposal for approval by the corresponding research ethics committee. Note that research with human participants–whether it is for a course or for an MRP or thesis–cannot begin before obtaining approval from the research ethics committee.

In any given year a course may be offered in either English or French, and the posting of the description of the course will be in the language of instruction.

Written assignments, including the thesis and research paper, may be submitted in either English or French.

Not all courses are offered each year. For courses offered in any particular session, please consult the Graduate Program Office and the Graduate Program in Translation Studies Course Schedule website.
