Introduction to Biological Sciences.

This course is an introduction to the fundamental biological concepts in science.  Topics covered  include structure and function of biological molecules, cell biology and membrane physiology, genes, genetics, developmental biology, evolutionary biology, animal behaviour, ecology, and the history of life. Foundational concepts in biology will be explored via a combination of theoretical (lectures) and applied (laboratory) classroom sessions.  Lectures will permit students to establish a strong baseline of knowledge in all areas of introductory biology and provide students with the solid theoretical background in order to maximize learning experiences in the laboratory. Laboratory exercises will involve hands-on exploration of modern tools and techniques used in biological laboratory research.
