Jackie Jones has been researching and teaching law for over 20 years, first at Cardiff Law School, then at Bristol Law School, University of the West of England, currently at the University of Bristol. Her main teaching and research interests lie in the areas of gender, migration, asylum process, human trafficking, violence against women, all within a human rights perspective. She is a former president of the European Women Lawyers Association, and served as one of the four Members of the European Parliament from Wales in the 9th European Parliament, from 2 July 2019 until 31 January 2020 (when the UK left the EU). In parliament, she served as First Vice President of the EU-US Delegation, FEMME and Legal Affairs Committee, LGBTIQ Inter Group member, Children’s Rights Inter Group; she remains coordinator of the Wales-EU Friendship Group and member of the EU-UK Friendship Group.
