The Arthritis Society has extended the deadlines for submission of applications to the Strategic Operating Grants and the Stars Career Development Grants competitions. Please see details below.
1) Strategic Operating Grants (SOG)
Objective
To support research proposals aligned with the Society’s new Strategic Plan 2020-2025: Accelerating Impact – Research Strategy which aims to identify research avenues
that focus on areas of highest priority to patients and achieve the highest levels of scientific excellence and rigour. Applications must focus on innovative research efforts in
the following priority areas:
- Pain research
- Osteoarthritis research
- Inflammatory arthritis
- Childhood arthritis
- Work-related research

Letters of Intent due at ORS – April 22, 2020
Letters of Intent due at agency – May 6, 2020 by 5:00pm EST
Full Application due at ORS – August 18, 2020
Full application due at agency (by invitation only) – September 1, 2020 by 5:00pm EST
2) Stars Career Development Grants
Objective
To firmly establish the career of early career investigators and to support research proposals aligned with the Arthritis Society’s 2020-2025 Research Strategy. The Society
will be accepting applications relevant to the following five research priority areas:
- Pain research
- Osteoarthritis research
- Inflammatory arthritis
- Childhood arthritis
- Work-related research
Value
Up to 125K/year, with an additional 3 years of support from the Host Institution of an equal value. Applicants may also request a $10,000 equipment
Note:
- At least $50,000 per year must be used for salary support, except where it exceeds the institution salary scale;
- The remaining amount of the award is to be used for research and support (e.g. research expenses including pilot study data collection, research personnel, supplies, and/or equipment, travel to scientific conferences, etc.).
