Actor and playwright Damien Atkins was born in Australia, grew up just outside Edmonton, and now makes his home in Toronto. As an actor, he has appeared on stages across Canada and the U.S. Recent credits include: Prior Walter in Soulpepper’s Angels in America, Alfie in Canadian Stage’s London Road, David in Crow’s Theatre’s acclaimed production of Someone Else, The Cat in the Hat in Seussical (YPT/The Citadel), all 36 characters in I Am My Own Wife (Dallas Theater Center), the Canadian premieres of both Into the Woods (Canadian Stage) and Merrily We Roll Along (Leave it to Jane Theatre), Tom in The Glass Menagerie (Canadian Stage/Segal Centre), Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest and Aston in The Caretaker (Soulpepper Theatre Co.). As a playwright, his plays include miss chatelaine, Good Mother, Real Live Girl, Lucy, and The Mill Part Four: Ash. They have been produced at theatres across North America, inc. Theatre Passe Muraille, Buddies in Bad Times and Canadian Stage (Toronto), The Grand Theatre (London), The Manitoba Theatre Centre (Winnipeg), The Ensemble Studio Theatre (New York City) and the Delaware Theatre Co. (Wilmington). Damien has been nominated for nine Dora Mavor Moore Awards for acting and writing, winning four.
