Beyond the Dream

Shaudin Melgar-Foraster’s Beyond the Dream (Trafford, 2009) is the first book in a series for teens and pre-teens, although it can be enjoyed by readers of all ages. Set not only in Toronto and Catalonia, but also in another world, it incorporates many elements of adventure and fantasy, while also exploring issues such as immigration. After reading the original Catalan edition (published in 2008 by Edicions del Bullent), Canadian author Caroline Roe was eager to undertake the English translation.
