Language Advocacy Day Conference and Indigenous Rights Panel with Ian Martin

LANGUAGE ADVOCACY DAY FEBRUARY 22, 2022

• French/ASL/LSQ interpretation will be provided throughout the day for all panels.
• Ian Martin (Glendon College, Centre for Research on Language and Culture Contact) will moderate one of the panels on Indigenous Language Education at noon.

Members of the Indigenous Language Defenders group (Andrea Bear Nicholas, Amos Key Jr., Lorena Sekwan Fontaine, David Lynch, and Ian Martin) have been working on a letter to be sent out to decision-makers, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, arguing for urgent attention to address the systemic discrimination in Indigenous languages in education.
