Fiddling while Rome burns?
A Conference on Public Intellectuals and the Future of Canada

Why is there a dearth of public debate in Canada on the challenges that will define the future of our country – from our response to global challenges such as climate change and inequality to the ambition and shape of our major social programs.

The Centre for Global Challenges will explore these issues during a one-day public conference on October 23, 2014. A diverse group of public intellectuals will come together to discuss their role in the fields of (1) universities and think tanks, (2) the voluntary sector and the state, and (3) the media.
