The Research Office is launching a series of sessions to help eligible fourth year students and first year master’s students (in two-year master’s program) navigate the provincial and federal government’s graduate funding opportunities. The series will cover the basics of applying to the awards, how to craft a research proposal, and will allow students to have individual feedback on their draft proposals. All sessions will be bilingual except for the individual feedback session, which will be conducted in the student’s language of choice.

Session 1: How to Fund Your Graduate Degree

  • This session includes overview of the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s Program and Ontario Graduate Scholarship, including applicant eligibility, important deadlines, selection criteria and more. Students are asked to attend only one of the two identical sessions.
  • Time and date: 1:00pm – 2:00pm, October 10th, 2019 or 10:00am to 11:00am, October 11th, 2019
  • Senate Chamber, York Hall C123
  • Please bring: your questions!

Session 2: How to Create A Winning Research Proposal

  • This session focuses primarily on developing the research proposal for the application, with a short amount of time dedicated to information on creating a Canadian Common CV. Students are asked to attend only one of the two identical sessions.
  • Time and date: 1:00pm – 3pm, October 24th, 2019 or 10:00am to 12pm, October 25th, 2019
  • Senate Chamber, York Hall C123
  • Please bring: your questions and your proposal brainstorm

Session 3:  Your Proposal Feedback Appointment

  • Students may sign up for individual feedback on their research proposals.
  • Sign up sheets for the 30-minute sessions will be distributed at the end of session 2.
  • Students who do not attend session 2 (on either October 24th or 25th) are ineligible for individual feedback on their research proposals.
  • Students must submit their proposal for initial review 48 hours before the scheduled meeting time. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of your appointment.
  • With an aim to fairness for all students and consideration for the Research Office’s limited time, students who do not attend their scheduled session will only be able to reschedule their appointments if there are time slots still available. No new slots will be created.
  • These appointments will be available from October 31st to November 14th, 2019.
  • Room: B209
