Alex Himelfarb, Director of the Glendon School of Public and International Affairs, has been named one of the “25 most important people in Ottawa” in “The Power List,” a ranking by Maclean’s that was published in the magazine’s December 3rd edition.

According to Maclean’s, after his return in 2008 from a stint as the Canadian ambassador to Rome, Mr. Himelfarb has become an outspoken critic of Stephen Harper’s style of government. He is also a popular blogger, who advances ideas for an effective centre-left opposition to the Conservatives. Although Stephen Harper’s government may have many critics among the greying veterans of the federal establishment, for Maclean’s writers, Alex Himelfarb’s persistence and focus have made him an influential standard-bearer for those who dream of a post-Harper Canada.

One thing is certain: Mr. Himelfarb’s experience and his long and distinguished career are assets that benefit the students of the Glendon School of Public and International Affairs.
