Born in Moncton (1953), France Daigle is the author of a dozen novels. The latest, For Sure (Pour Sûr), won the Governor General’s Literary Award (2012), Prix Champlain, PrixAntonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie, as well as New Brunswick’s Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for High Achievement in French-Language Literary Arts.

Comment chérir la liberté, l’égalité et la fraternité sans voir le lien ontologique de ces valeurs avec la communication ?
Comment revendiquer et se battre pour les droits de l’homme sans réaliser qu’ils sont inséparables de ce concept ? Comment se préparer à vivre dans un monde ouvert et « transparent » où tout ne sera qu’« échanges » sans réaliser que la question de la communication y sera centrale pour la paix et la guerre, car il faudra bien que cohabitent pacifiquement tous ceux qui ne se ressemblent, ni ne se comprennent.
Directeur de l’Institut des sciences de la communication du Centre national de la recherche scientifique en France (CNRS), Dominique Wolton, considéré comme l’un des plus éminents politologues et sociologues français. Fondateur et directeur de la revue Hermès,Sa conférence est en relation avec ses recherches sur l’analyse des rapports entre information et communication, et les enjeux de ces rapports pour la société, la culture et la politique.
French sociologist and political scientist Dominique Wolton, is the Director of the Research institute on communication of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) – and Director of the scientific publication Hermès. His lecture will address the relationship between Information and Communication, and the challenges posed by this relationship for culture, society and politics.

This talk is intented for a non-specialist audience. It will outline some of the challenges faced by court interpreters and the strategies they use to overcome them. Time permitting, the speaker may also address some of the changes that are currently gripping the court-interpreting sector.
