York University’s Glendon Campus and Canadian Parents for French (Ontario) have joined forces to expand opportunities for high school students to learn virtually (and literally) in French. During this stressful and uncertain time, where the educational environment within Ontario high schools is in constant flux, students are losing opportunities to have meaningful in-class opportunities to learn in French.

We have developed several activities for our virtual summer Explore and Destination Clic programs and wanted to share them with you. As you may know, the virtual nature of the Explore and Destination Clic programs this year has certainly brought challenges, but it also offers us the chance for an unprecedented level of collaboration between programs, as getting together virtually is just a click away. We therefore would like to invite you to participate in some of our afternoon activities with us!

Programming

Here are some of the activity ideas our team has developed:

  • “Along with Me” series, where the monitors guide participants online through activities like origami, cooking, or painting.
  • A virtual talent show, where the participants share a skill that they are proud of.
  • Virtual physical activities like yoga, workouts, and dance.
  • Online debate club, where the participants have lively, respectful debates about topics they care about, guided and moderated by monitors.
  • Virtual games, such as Taboo, Loupgarou, and Skribbl so participants can bond through fun.
  • And more!
