Job Title: French and/or English Language Teacher 

Job Type: Up to 25 to 30 hours/week*

Salary: Starting at $35.00, based on qualifications and experience.

Location: Glendon College, York University

*Teachers may have the opportunity to take on additional hours.

As a Teacher for the Explore and Destination Clic programs, you will:

  • Plan and deliver French or English language lessons, focusing on the development of grammatical, speaking, listening, and reading skills, aligned with Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels.
  • Create and adapt lesson content according to students’ language proficiency, ensuring relevance and accessibility at various CEFR levels for participants aged 13-15 and 19+.
  • Design and implement engaging, interactive, and fun in-class activities that enhance language learning and student participation.
  • Prepare and lead in-class seminars that encourage the practical application of language skills in real-life contexts.
  • Ensure accurate attendance and behavioural reports are maintained for both classes and seminars, and escalate issues to program administration when necessary.
  • Participate in and contribute to evening activities, such as the Talent Show (spring and summer sessions) and Final Banquet (spring session only), to enhance the overall program experience.
  • Foster a dynamic, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages students’ growth and language development.

Your role will be key in delivering a high-quality, immersive language experience that promotes both linguistic and cultural enrichment for participants.

To be considered for the role of Teacher for the Explore and Destination Clic programs, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Holds an undergraduate degree and a teaching diploma and/or degree in French as a Second Language (FSL), English as a Second Language (ESL), or French as a First Language (FFL).
  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in the language taught (French or English).
  • Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check (required for summer sessions only).
  • Proficiency in a second language (French or English) is an asset.

These qualifications ensure you are well-prepared to provide high-quality language instruction and foster a dynamic, immersive learning environment for participants.

    The training session for the Explore and Destination Clic programs is designed to prepare you for the dynamic nature of teaching in an immersive language environment. It will provide you with a thorough understanding of the program’s objectives, daily schedule, and effective strategies for engaging students.

    Spring Training: Wednesday, May 21, 2025*
    Summer Training: Monday, June 30, 2025

    Training is paid and will take place on campus, offering a hands-on learning experience in a supportive environment, ensuring you are well-prepared to lead and teach with confidence. 

    *During Spring Training, orientation will also be taking place, and you may be asked to briefly introduce yourself to the participants. Training will follow immediately after orientation.

    Explore and Destination Clic teachers are expected to work throughout the program period, with the exception of weekends and July 1st, in observance of Canada Day. 

    In the mornings, teachers will lead French or English language lessons, focusing on developing grammar, speaking, listening, and reading skills. The afternoons are designed to promote the practical use of language skills in real-life situations through interactive seminars.

    Explore for Teens (ages 13-15)

        • Program Period: Tuesday, July 1 to Thursday, July 17, 2025
        • Move-out: Friday, July 18, 2025

        • Move-in: Monday, July 21, 2025
        • Program Period: Tuesday, July 22 to Thursday, August 7, 2025
        • Move-out: Friday, August 8, 2025

    Destination Clic for Teens (grades 8-10)

      • Languages offered: French as a First Language (FFL)
      • Dates:
        • Move-in: Monday, June 30, 2025
        • Program Period: Tuesday, July 1 to Thursday, July 17, 2025
        • Move-out: Friday, July 18, 2025
