Once you submit your online OSAP application, you can no longer edit it.
But circumstances in your life may change before or during your study period, such as changes in income, marital status, family size, access to transportation, etc., meaning that the OSAP application information becomes outdated. You must then submit a notice of these changes to York University’s Student Financial Services.
How to report changes to OSAP application information
When you applied for OSAP you may have reported income from several sources, and need to report changes to any of those sources.
If your own income has changed: | complete an Income Change Request Form for fall/winter or summer |
If your parents’ income has changed: | complete a Request for Assessment on Parent’s Estimated Income |
If your spouse’s income has changed: | complete a Request for Assessment on Spouse’s Estimated Income |
Change of Postal Address
If your postal address changes, then you should:
- update your address on the OSAP website (this notifies the government)
- update your address on Student Web Services: under “My address and home phone information”, click “Review or Update” (this notifies York University)
Other changes
If your OSAP application was for the fall term only, but you now plan to take courses in the winter term as well: | complete a Winter Extension Request |
For any other changes, including cancellation of your OSAP application: | complete an Application Change Request |
Reporting scholarships, awards and bursaries to OSAP
York University scholarships, awards and bursaries
Only some York University scholarships, awards and bursaries need to be reported on your OSAP application. The MyAwards Summary tool shows a list of the awards you received from York University and whether you need to report them to OSAP.
Within MyAwards Summary, review your York scholarships, awards and bursaries for the current year. Look at the column titled “Should this be reported to OSAP?”
- “No” means you do not report the award on your OSAP application. Instead, York University reports the award information (name, amount, date issued) to OSAP.
- “Yes” means you do need to report the award on your OSAP application. If you received the award after you submitted your OSAP application, then use the Income Change Request Form to report these funds.
External scholarships, awards and bursaries
Scholarships, awards and bursaries from agencies other than York University will not appear on the MyAwards Summary. You need to report them on your OSAP application as they may affect your funding amount. If you received the award after submitting your OSAP application, use the Income Change Request Form to report these funds.
