To check your balance you may use a YU-Card station on campus or the Online YU-Card Office.
The on-campus station is located in Frost library. To log-in to the online YU-Card office you will need a Passport York login.
YU-Card Accounts
The YU-Card has four accounts: Meal Plan, Meal Plan Taxable, Flex and Bookstore Rewards.
Meal Plan
The ‘Meal Plan’ account shows the balance remaining of ‘Basic Meal Dollars’ from a purchased meal plan.
- Tax exempt
- Non-refundable
- Cannot be transferred to the Flex account
- Unused dollars in this account will transfer to Meal Plan Taxable at the end of the meal plan term, subject to a $100 administrative fee.
Meal Plan Taxable
The ‘Meal Plan Taxable’ account shows the balance remaining of taxable funds from a purchased meal plan. These funds are are intended to be used to purchase taxable beverages and snacks when you are not purchasing them as part of a meal.

- Non-refundable
- Cannot be transferred to the Flex account
- You can add additional Taxable dollars at any time
- Funds do not expire at the end of the meal plan term if you remain enrolled at York in the following academic year.
Flex
The ‘Flex’ account shows the balance remaining of ‘Flex Dollars’ purchased as part of a meal plan, as well as any funds topped-up throughout the year using a YU-Card station or online. Flex dollars can also be used for non-food related items such as merchandise in the bookstore and printing and photocopying at the library.

Bookstore Rewards
The ‘Bookstore Rewards’ account shows the balance remaining of ‘Scholar Dollars’, rewards earned through purchasing textbooks with a YU-Card at the bookstore. Scholar Dollars can be redeemed toward any merchandise at the Bookstore.
